JAB Recruitment is currently looking to source a General Manager - Fleet on a full-time, permanent basis on behalf of our client, a leading global provider of offshore support vessel services, specialising in the technical and commercial management of anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels.
Main Purpose of Job
The General Manager - Fleet is responsible for delivering a first-class service to clients by overseeing the safe, compliant, and efficient technical and operational performance of the assigned fleet of vessels. The role demands championing the highest level of service delivery, providing safe and reliable assets in line with charter party obligations and company standards.
This is a high-profile leadership role with the authority and support to drive necessary changes across vessel management teams to foster an environment for success. Close and constructive collaboration with other departments and offshore teams is essential to build a high-performing and safety-driven culture across the fleet.
Accountability and Key Performance Areas
* Maintain the highest safety, environmental, and operational standards across the fleet.
* Holistically manage the assigned fleet, maximising performance and revenue from each vessel.
* Deliver optimal fleet performance with minimal downtime.
* Demonstrate active safety leadership and promote safe operations fleet-wide.
* Maximise operational, cost, management, and technical efficiencies across the fleet and identify transferable lessons.
* Lead and direct Technical Superintendents.
* Collaborate with all departments to ensure vessels are adequately supported.
* Accountable for financial performance against budget for assigned vessels.
* Maintain effective interdepartmental and cross-fleet communication and engagement.
* Exhibit positive behaviour aligned to core values.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Oversee day-to-day operations and technical management of the assigned fleet.
* Ensure vessels are maintained and operated safely, in accordance with Class, Flag State, and legislative requirements.
* Develop and manage accurate OPEX and CAPEX budgets; provide regular forecasting.
* Monitor vessel KPIs and performance data; promote continuous improvement.
* Close out audit and inspection findings in a timely manner.
* Strategically plan maintenance with the Chartering department to minimise commercial disruption.
* Ensure vessels are manned with competent, high-performing crews in collaboration with the Crewing department.
* Address crew performance issues promptly.
* Support client tendering activities by providing accurate data to the Chartering team.
* Report vessel performance to Owners as required.
* Provide visible offshore leadership through vessel visits and inspections.
* Promote safety leadership and ensure proper utilisation of safety tools across vessels.
* Line manage Technical Superintendents, offering coaching and mentoring.
* Represent the company internally and externally, building relationships with stakeholders.
* Act as ERTL and participate in drills/scenarios as required.
* Deputise for the Head of Shipmanagement when needed.
* Carry out other duties as reasonably requested by line management.
Experience, Competency, and Skill Requirements
* Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Nautical Science, or MBA.
* Senior seagoing experience on offshore support vessels.
* Significant shore-based technical/fleet management experience.
* Excellent financial management skills with a proven budget management track record.
* In-depth knowledge of maritime regulatory frameworks.
* Culturally aware with global operational experience.
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; experience managing diverse teams.
* Ability to prioritise and manage time in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
