This is a permanent position, of 37.5 hours, although part-time hours will be considered.

Will be responsible for:
• Chaperoning and assisting radiologists, advanced practitioners, and Mammographers in the delivery of care in the clinical area. This involves face to face support of patients and Clinicians during clinics.
• Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide the highest standards of patient care.
• To assist in general patient throughput in the clinical area, being aware of patient flow, and assisting with and confirming patient demographic details.
• To receive patients and to prepare clinical paperwork.
• To liaise with other departments regarding results for Multidisciplinary Meetings and Results Clinics.
Breast Imaging consists of Bolton, Bury & Rochdale Breast Screening Service serves the population of 95,000 eligible women: and the Symptomatic Breast Service based in Royal Bolton Hospital (RBH), where our symptomatic new patient clinics are held.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communication and Relationship Tasks/Duties:
• To be aware that the Breast Unit environment is often stressful and disconcerting for patients and to be mindful of this. Interpersonal skills are required to establish and maintain effective communication with individuals, developing a range of written, verbal and non-verbal methods, as appropriate, to relevant client groups.
• To assist in general patient throughput in the clinical area, being aware of patient flow, and assisting with and confirming patient demographic details.
• To receive patients and to prepare clinical paperwork.
• To liaise with other departments regarding results for Multidisciplinary Meetings and Results Clinics.
Knowledge Training and Experience:
• A good standard of education equivalent to GCSE/O-level in English and Mathematics.
• To undertake the relevant mandatory Trust training programme.
• To actively participate in learning and development to maintain interest in a range of learning activities.
• To identify own individual training and development needs through the appraisal process.
• To assist in clinical procedures carried out on the breast, and employ basic sterile and non-sterile nursing techniques as required.
• To attend staff meetings on a regular basis.
Planning and Organisational Requirements:
• To carry out daily morning duties before mammography staff arrive to a set protocol
• setting up of clinical rooms and ensuring all clinical patient trolleys are fully stocked
• checking of the daily diary to ensure efficient workflow.
• making sure all relevant paperwork is available at the time of the examination
• Follow NHSBSP Right Results Policy
• To carry out and prioritise all other daily duties
• sorting of all mammogram packets from all units into date order
• responsibility for the removal of all clinical paperwork which require discussion/assessment and record all activities in accordance with departmental protocols
• processing of clinical paperwork in accordance with departmental protocols
• undertaking required stock control and report any deficiencies to management
• assisting in the management of patients undergoing clinical procedures, ie the preparation of trolleys, direct patient care and wound dressing.
Physical Requirements:
• To occasionally work in cramped conditions in an awkward position or confined space. There is frequent requirement to exert light physical effort for several periods of time per day.
