Salary: £25,034.09 per annum + £1,500 supplement.

Driving and Manual Handling are also key aspects of this role, therefore a Manual UK Driving License and a high level of physical fitness are essential.
You will be based within our R S Johnson & Sons Funeral Directors Brand serving our communities across the South Shields area with regular movements within our branch network; flexibility is therefore key!
Here is what a typical day could look like for you:
* Oversee the prioritization and distribution of Funeral Service Operative (FSO) workloads on a shift basis.
* Ensure all assigned activities are completed to the required standards within the allocated timeframes.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for the team in the absence of management.
* Provide guidance and support to FSOs and casual colleagues, addressing queries and ensuring smooth operations.
* Act as the first point of contact for deceased collections, including those occurring outside of normal working hours.
* Ensure adherence to procedures and maintain the highest standards of care during these processes.
* Maintain a clear understanding of daily priorities and allocate specific tasks to FSOs and casual colleagues effectively.
* Monitor task completion and address any issues or delays promptly.
* Create and manage rota schedules for fleet and resources based on funeral volumes.
* Optimise fleet and resource allocation to ensure efficiency and effectiveness at all times.
* Oversee funeral bookings, removals, and transportation of deceased to branches, churches, or homes.
* Organise necessary documentation and liaise with third parties, such as doctors, to ensure smooth operations.
* Assemble staff or garage orders and communicate them clearly to colleagues.
* Strive to minimise errors and corrections through accurate and efficient processes.
* Identify unnecessary costs within operations and recommend controls or cost-saving measures to the manager.
* Participate in out-of-hours duties as required to support funeral services and operations.
This role will suit someone who:
* Has a Full UK Manual Driving License.
* Physically able to lift and carry heavy weights in accordance with manual handling procedures.
* Ideally familiar with the local community.
* Committed to providing excellent customer service.
* Demonstrates composure and empathy in sensitive situations.
* Reliable, well-presented and aims for high standards in their job role.
