Waites Recruitment Consultancy are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor based in South Wales for a client on a full time basis. Quantity Surveyor Due to continuing growth, we now require a Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team to ensure all projects perform efficiently and that necessary paperwork/records are delivered to the relevant clients and internal finance department with the specified timescales and are consistent with company formats. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring that all monthly duties associated with various contracts are performed efficiently and delivered to the relevant clients and internal finance departments within the specified timescales and consistent with company formats. This will include: - Subcontract procurement including all enquiries, tender evaluation and placement of orders. Management of subcontractor accounts including managing and controlling changes, allocating work, valuing and processing payments, monitoring subcontractor delivery and performance and assessing and agreeing variations. Maximising cash flow through the control, measurement and valuation of work. Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks. Administration of the main contract by understanding and abiding by contractual obligations. Providing advice on contractual claims. Final account negotiation and agreement with clients and arranging payments. Preparation of cost/value reconciliations for each project and presenting the figures to senior management and directors on a monthly basis Preparation of cash flow and turnover forecast and updating them on a monthly basis. Training and mentoring of any trainees or work placements. Assisting with Material Procurement with the company buyer. Ensure all Health and Safety policies and Operating Procedures are strictly adhered to. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Data Protection Regulations at all times. Participate in training and other learning and performance development activities as required. Undertake any other duty relevant to the position. Preparation of monthly valuations Monthly cost value reconciliations (CVR’s) Ensuring cash is collected on or before its due date Checking/Liaising and authorising subcontract payments Weekly site visits to assess progress towards expenditure General cost assessments Pricing variations Project re-measures Subcontract and material quotation comparisons Adhering to Company policy and procedure You should have excellent organisational and time management experience and be able to prioritise your own workload with limited supervision, with previous experience of working in office and site environments, good IT skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook). You must be customer focussed with strong commercial awareness and a confident personality. A degree in Construction Management, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification (Q.S.) with experience in quantity surveying and purchasing is essential for the role. Qualifications: Minimum qualification of HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying. Experience of working as a QS with recognised contractors. Strong technical understanding of the construction industry, including the processes, materials and methods. Proficient in IT. Excellent analytical and mathematical skills. Exceptional organisational and time management skills. Strong communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as a team.
