The Trust is seeking a Specialty Doctor for the Adult In-patient Eating Disorders Ward, Avalon Ward, Springfield University Hospital. This is a new post.
This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic psychiatrist to join this well-established in-patient eating disorders unit, with well-functioning MDT and good national and international reputation.
The Adult Eating Disorder services comprise of: inpatient unit - Avalon ward, outpatient service and day unit. All are located in a new, state of the art Trinity building. The Trust operates as part of the South London Partnership (SLP) - a collaboration between the 3 trusts providing Mental health services for the 12 Boroughs of South London (South London and Maudsley [SLaM], OXLEAS and this Trust, South West London & St. George's MH Trust). The SLP has an excellent reputation locally and nationally in context of innovation and good quality, patient centred care for population of South London.
Avalon Ward is an 18 beds, providing care for local and national patients, mostly from Surrey, Sussex and Kent, with eating disorders requiring inpatient treatment. The service accepts patients from age of 18 who cannot be supported effectively in the community. Decisions about admissions are made jointly with our partner in the Provider Collaborative (SLAM) in the Single Point of Referrals.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide senior clinical care and support as well as psychiatric input to Avalon Ward (Adult Eating Disorders In-patients Unit). The postholder will work closely with the Team consultants, Team Manager, Clinical Leads to ensure a safe, efficient and effective service that meets the Trust's Key Performance Indicators.
While individual clinicians within the team have responsibility for the clinical care they deliver, the senior clinical team shares with the team manager and consultants, as well as other team members responsibility for ensuring the care delivered by the team is safe and of a good standard. This includes participating in systems of audit and clinical governance, working to resolve problems on their own initiative, and where necessary drawing any concerns they have been unable to resolve themselves to the attention of the team manager and others.
