Job Title: Network Engineer
Location: Millbrook - Hampshire (must have a current full driving licence)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 38 hours
Salary: Base pay £32,900
We are looking for a proactive, IT literate individual to join us here at Southern Water as a Network Engineer in the Hampshire region.
This role will involve the management and reviewing the site activities of Southern Water contractors.
The Network Engineer will carry out reactive work on wastewater infrastructure assets to ensure that work is undertaken in accordance with health and safety requirements, contract conditions, design specifications, company rules and regulations, relevant legislation and construction best practice as well as ensuring the Southern Water customers and the general public is effectively managed throughout.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct field investigations into various Sewerage related incidents to identify solutions and appropriate actions.
2. Act as a key link between the Operational Sewerage Teams and Asset Teams to ensure day-to-day operational issues and Sewerage related incidents are addressed.
3. Carry out investigations into sewer incidents and identify root causes.
4. Recommend remedial works required to address problems and ensure no repeat incidents.
5. Take ownership and escalate as required to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
Accountabilities
* Internal Flooding & Pollution Incidents – Key activity incident dependant, estimate 35%-time utilisation:
* Attend to Flooding and Pollution incidents at the request of Team Leaders, control desk, Pollution Team and/or Reactive Sewers Management team.
* Liaise with customers during internal flooding incidents to manage expectations and inform them of actions taken by service providers.
* Work closely with the EA and pollution team to resolve pollution incidents quickly with minimal impact.
* Investigate root causes of sewer related incidents and identify corrective actions required.
* Utilize data such as CCTV footage and SW records.
* Collaborate with the Reactive Sewers Capa Investigation Technician Asset Manager to identify hotspot areas.
* Proactively address future prevention of blockages and inform customers of nuisance-related issues.
* Ensure reporting and regulatory obligations are met through verification of SIRF, PIRF and Red Line MGIS sketches.
* Regularly visit sites to record progress and resolve issues to ensure service partners meet SW standards.
Desirable Requirements
* Fundamental knowledge of sewer systems.
* Functional knowledge of the Reactive Sewers end-to-end process.
* Functional knowledge of SIRF, PIRF & MGIS processes.
* Understanding of NRSWA legislation.
* Skills to provide confidence and assurance to customers/public and EA regarding incident handling.
