Hampton Court Palace (including travel to other palaces on occasion)
We are the independent charity that loves and looks after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. The palaces are the setting for the stories that shape us all, and we’re bringing them to people in ways that mean more to them. We want everyone to find themselves in the spaces and stories we share. Our palaces are home to varied and extensive collections of historically significant objects. In this leadership role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring these unique collections are effectively managed and documented. As the driving force behind our collections management strategy and programme, you’ll devise the policies, procedures and plans that will govern and deliver our collections work.
Day-to-day, you’ll support and lead a high performing team of collections management specialists. You’ll ensure collections management at Historic Royal Palaces is aligned with our ambition to be a charity for everyone, including our digital strategy. You will provide expert advice across the organisation on a range of issues from sector standards, governance and assurance, to legal compliance and insurance matters as relevant to art and heritage collections.
Benefits Include:
* Hybrid working
* Enhanced holiday entitlement
* Generous Employers Pension Contributions (up to 11%)
* Annual Pay reviews & Bonuses
* Critical Illness Cover & Life Assurance
* Family friendly policies and benefits
* Staff discounts and membership to all palaces
Your work will bring you into contact with individuals at all levels across the organisation – as well as key external stakeholders – so you must be a team-focused professional who can collaborate with others, providing assurance and direction.
You will be an experienced professional with a background in Collections Management. You’ll have an advanced knowledge of collections management policy and procedure, relevant legislation, the Government Indemnity Scheme (GIS), Accreditation standards and international art transport.
You’ll also know how to oversee established programmes of work that are delivered through your team, including the management of collections documentation and data through a collections management system, and a busy schedule of exhibitions and loans.
Your expertise will be accompanied by a positive, proactive approach, with strong communication skills and an eye for detail. You will also need to be flexible and willing to travel to all six palaces as required.
Salary: £50,630 per annum
Closing date: 23:55pm, 26th January 2025
We have adopted a hybrid model of part working from home and part working from site; we are open to discussing what best works for individuals and their work life balance whilst also delivering the business requirements.
