JR266: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £65,000 Per Annum + £5,750 Car Allowance
Overview:
First Military Executive Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of one of our prestigious clients based on significant civils projects in Swindon.
The key purpose of this role will be to join a commercial team and is likely to report to the Commercial Lead and to be responsible for sub-contract management of projects. The successful candidate will likely have extensive Tier 1 civils contractor experience in subcontractor management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Management of change process.
* Identifying change with the project team.
* Ascertaining and subsequently demonstrating contractual entitlement to change.
* Preparation of notices to the client of change entitlement as required by the contract.
* Valuing change to ensure all costs associated with the change are recovered through a target uplift.
* Interfacing with the project team (particularly Project Managers and Planners).
* Maintenance of an up-to-date change control register (weekly) showing status of all change i.e., notice submitted to client, response received, programme assessed, quote submitted.
* Reviewing contractual correspondence from the client in order to identify change and reviewing instructions issued by the client to determine their sufficiency and correctness.
* Preparation of early warning notices for any potential future change and organizing subsequent risk reduction meetings.
* Maintenance of early warning register.
* Interfacing with the client in order to demonstrate entitlement to change.
* A secondary responsibility is to provide commercial support/advice to Project Managers.
* Promote high safety standards.
* Report any close calls or unsafe acts/conditions observed.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Degree qualified.
* CSCS card.
* Civil engineering projects experience is essential.
* Experience of forms of contract used in civil engineering and experience on Target Cost contracts.
* Change control management knowledge is a must.
* Must be self-motivated with the initiative to manage all change on the project.
* Must have good client interfacing skills to build mutual respect and trust.
* Must be a good team player and be able to work with different personalities across the project to identify change and value it.
* Must have good communication skills, particularly written communication as the role will involve writing numerous communications and preparing documents demonstrating entitlement to change to the client.
* MRICS / MCIOB / MCIES would be advantageous.
