Jark Recruitment are now recruiting Kitchen AssistantStaff for Care Homes across Northern Ireland, with immediate starts in a number of care home locations in the Dundonald area. The role of kitchen assistant entails ensuring the Cooks have everything they need before the meal preparation starts. They shop for food items, bring ingredients into the kitchen, peel and chop vegetables and fruit, cut steak, gut fish and pluck feathers from poultry. When the kitchen surface and workstations get dirty, it is the Kitchen Assistant who cleans them. Sometimes the Kitchen Assistant prepares snacks, toast, soups, desserts and beverages under the supervision of a Cook. The Kitchen Assistant also maintains kitchen equipment and appliances and reports any that need repairs. They also ensure that Chefs and Cooks have a safe cooking environment. A Kitchen Assistant, or Kitchen Porter, assists the Line Cook and Sous Chef. Their primary duties include stocking ingredients, slicing produce, cutting meat into portions and cleaning the kitchen. All Kitchen staff must have 6-months experience in a similar role. What skills and qualifications should a Kitchen Assistant have if they want to work in a Care home? Kitchen Assistants needs a variety of skills and qualifications to perform their duties effectively.
