An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to join the Cardiology Pathway in the CCCS (Critical Care, Cardiac and Surgery) Team based at the BRI.
You will be the Cardiology Team lead Physiotherapist within the BHI, working closely with the Team Lead Occupational Therapist and contributing to the other pathways within the CCCS Team. You will work across the teams to provide a seven-day-a-week service to our patients. We are looking for an innovative, inclusive leader who is passionate about delivering a service that is patient-centred and ensures patients receive the right care at the right time in the right place.
The post holder will work closely with the Cardiac pathway lead and Physiotherapy Clinical Specialist and CCCS Band 7s to provide a high-quality patient-centred service to patients and jointly manage a large team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Therapy Technicians.
We are looking for an individual who has advanced skills, can treat and manage complex patients, and who is confident to challenge current practice to ensure that our patients receive up-to-date evidence-based treatments.
The successful candidate will contribute to the weekend and bank holiday rota.
Main duties of the job
* Undertake a clinical team leader role, in planning, coordinating, and delivering the Physiotherapy service provided to patients across the Cardiology Pathway in the CCCS Team.
* With the support of the Pathway Leads and Clinical Specialist, evaluate patient services across the specialties and assist in the development, planning, and progression of service provision.
* Take a major role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the specialty, who may have complex and/or chronic presentations, and to determine clinical diagnosis and Physiotherapy treatment indicated, and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
* Work and lead in the integrated therapy team – being a line manager to both Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Staff.
* Provide highly specialist advice and training to Physiotherapists, students, and other healthcare professionals in their specialty.
* The post holder will be required to work shifts including weekends and to participate in the bank holiday rota.

Qualifications and Training
* Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
* Health Professions Council registered
* Experience of relevant cardiology experience
* A variety of experience in acute core areas, as a postgraduate physiotherapist (i.e., T&O, musculoskeletal, respiratory & neurological, dealing with a wide range of patients with differing needs)
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
* Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
* Involvement in Relevant Special Clinical Interest Groups
Knowledge and Experience
* Significant experience of working as part of a Physiotherapy team & multidisciplinary team at a senior level
* In-depth clinical knowledge in chosen field underpinned by theory and practical experience
* Contributing to clinical education of less experienced staff, students, or assistants
* Previous experience at Band 6
* Clinical supervision of junior staff
* Evidence of previous experience & participation in audit
* Experience of discharge planning
* Credible & mature attitude, which is recognised & respected by other staff
