The Insights & Analytics Lead is responsible for leading commercial forecasting activities and reporting of performance/ predictive analytics to leadership for Sanofi. Additionally, in the UK this person is responsible for providing market and customer insights through the execution of market research that will help drive key strategic and tactical decisions across Sanofi. As a part of the Insights and Analytics (I&A) team this individual will be a strategic player in developing short & long-range sales forecasts for in-line and future indications, while providing analysis of launched asset performance as well as preparing for future launches. In addition, they are an integral strategic partner to Sanofi Commercial leadership, leading the development & application of cutting-edge market research methodologies to achieve the full potential of the Sanofi’s expanding portfolio. Additionally Business Analytics, Market & Customer Insights Lead is acting as global project orchestrator, being a “Key liaison” between the local business and the global team, supporting the roll out and implementation of key global I&A projects (ie. Turing, OneCI etc…).
Main responsibilities:
* Provide strategic guidance & ad-hoc support to the Commercial teams, and the I&A organization, as a Brand Analytics subject matter expert
o Act as Strategic Partner for new / expanded therapy areas, including HCP / patient segmentation, HCP targeting, sales force sizing, launch KPI tracking, etc.
o Collaborate with Data Management in optimizing Commercial data assets to ensure availability & accuracy of Brand Analytics insights
* Act as strategic partner to Brand team leadership in key activities, such as brand planning, performance reviews, new indication launches, and assessment of new initiatives
* Collaborate with Marketing/Brand teams and cross-functional partners to develop, document, and communicate accurate long-term patient / volume / revenue forecasts for annual Strategic Planning & Budget cycles
* Apply data science techniques leveraging expertise and solutions within Sanofi to generate predictive insights – tactical and strategic insights to improve marketing effectiveness
* Design data modeling processes to create algorithms and predictive models and perform custom analysis enabling micro segmentation
* Synthesize brand performance metrics into a cohesive narrative, and deliver strategic insights to Commercial leadership
* Work with local/global forecasting to ensure that deliverables across markets align to Global guidance and properly integrate with Global forecast aggregation process
* Partner with brand team to develop and measure KPIs associated with brand strategy and tactics performance incorporating the near-term forecast outlook
* In partnership with Analytics & Finance colleagues, develop and maintain KPI reports and end-of-month closing deliverables for the commercial team, covering Marketing, Sales, Finance, Market Access and other relevant functions
* Conduct ad-hoc meetings with brand leads to review national and sub-national analyses to proactively identify areas of opportunities and threats, leveraging marketing tactic utilization, sales execution, and customer adoption metrics
* Partner with Advanced Analytics colleagues to support optimization of promotional spend (e.g., marketing mix analyses) and better understand / impact key business levers
* Liaison with external vendors in the production of sub-national Sales Force Effectiveness reports
* Create dashboards to synthesize information and enable business decisions
* Coordinate with data management to ensure insights are based on reliable, high-quality information
Execute market research projects
* Lead market research projects to support the brand strategy, including identification of market research needs, vendor selection, design, execution and interpretation of studies
* Have the confidence and experience to select the best vendor based on the business objectives
* Manage projects within budgets, schedules and corporate policies and SOPs
* Explore innovative techniques to address business questions
* Identify insight needs and recommend approaches to address these needs
* Foster strong agency partnerships to ensure insights are based on reliable, high-quality information
* Coordinate vendors at each stage of the market research process and provide business/brand knowledge to aid in fieldwork material and report development
Communicate Actionable Insights
* Develop and refine presentations to effectively communicate complex information clearly and concisely
* Integrate and synthesize information from multiple sources to proactively address business needs
* Delivers strategic insights, tailored to each specific audience, which empower Commercial teams
* Show strategic business acumen when communicating insights, addressing key business questions and providing recommendations
Effectively Collaborate and Partner Within a Matrix Environment
* Work closely with brand teams to identify and address business needs
* Develop strong strategic partnerships with the brand teams
* Collaborate across functions (i.e. forecasting, analytics, patient services) to deliver integrated insights and recommendations to commercial teams
* Demonstrate a solution-oriented and proactive approach to problem-solving
* Work with Global colleagues to ensure alignment and coordination across projects
* Support other MCI colleagues where applicable
About you
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, MD, PhD) preferred
Skills and Competencies
* Significant, demonstrable experience in pharmaceutical / biotech forecasting; equivalent combination of education (MA, MS, MBA / PhD) and / or relevant consulting experience may be considered
* Strong business acumen, with well-developed communication & presentation skills
* Excellent analytical and forecasting skills, with demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain short and long-term forecast models
* Strong understanding of UK & Ireland pharmaceutical industry data sources available for the market (e.g., IQVIA data, syndicated reports, specialty pharmacy data, etc.) and payer / health insurance environment
* Comfort and good intuition around advanced analytics, with a proficient understanding of modelling techniques and advanced applied skills (e.g. Bayesian statistics, Regression, Customer life cycle value, A/B testing)
* Experience with segmentation, marketing mix, and adoption driver analyses
* Experience in applying data science methodologies to complex quantitative problems;
* Strong understanding of all types of market research methodologies, with experience of conducting both quantitative and qualitative market research from end-to-end, including strong quantitative analytical skills, data analysis and statistics,
* Proven ability to recommend, plan and lead market research projects.
* Proficiency in analytical platforms, CRM data systems (e.g. Veeva, Salesforce), data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g. Qlik Sense, PowerBI)
* Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
