The Estates department at the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the onsite maintenance team.
The Estates team is a support service vital to the smooth running of the hospital. The team works behind the scenes to keep the hospital operational. The working environment is very diverse, and the equipment is highly specialised and unique to healthcare. An Estates Maintenance Support Worker position plays a key role within the Estates Engineering Maintenance Services. The post supports the wider maintenance team in the delivery of maintenance programmes that will contribute to a safe, cost effective, efficient and compliant hospital site.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake works relating to the maintenance and repairs of Trust properties, equipment, grounds & gardens ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, health technical memorandum's, trust policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe and functional environment for patients, public and staff to support the delivery of patient care. The post also holds a significant patient, staff and visitor safety function during the winter months, providing on call support overnight and at weekends for de-icing and snow clearing. The role offers support and/or assistance to skilled maintenance craft persons in plant rooms maintaining specialised equipment that serves Operating Theatres, Wards and Departments.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Completion of a level 2 recognised training program such as diploma, national certificate etc in building or grounds maintenance Level 2 English & Maths or effective standard of spoken English and use of mathematics.
* Basic Computer Skills to enable the post holder to login, operate trust standard programmes and complete mandatory training.
* Hold Full UK Driving Licence
* Possess demonstrable knowledge of NHS procedures for the operational maintenance of acute hospital sites.
* Knowledge of relevant Trust policies, health and safety and other legislation relevant to the position.
* Computer Literate including being able to use software programmes like word, excel and email.
Occupational Experience & Abilities
* Able to plan, organise and manage own work activities.
* Able to accurately interpret information relating to H&S, legislation Mandatory requirements.
* Previous experience working in a maintenance background.
* Able to understand Risk Assessment processes and carryout work utilizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instruction (WI).
* Able to work independently and make decisions based on analysis of information.
* Able to plan, organise and manage own work, including liaison with staff and members of the public.
* Proven relevant experience working on breakdowns and PPM's on mechanical / plumbing plant and equipment or grounds maintenance or equipment found in the hospital environment.
