Role: In-house Counsel - 12 month FTC - Hybrid
Job Overview
VANRATH are delighted to be supporting one of the country's leading employers who are actively looking for a Company Lawyer to join their team. You will support the senior legal team in delivering high-quality legal services across the business, focusing on commercial, corporate, property, and governance matters in a dynamic environment.
* 37 hours/week
* Belfast - with Hybrid Working
* 12 month contract
Key Responsibilities:
* Draft and manage commercial legal agreements with suppliers and stakeholders, supporting Senior Company Lawyers on employment, fraud, and litigation matters.
* Provide legal services for property, assets, and estates (including intangible property rights), focusing on reducing external legal reliance and enhancing internal efficiency for routine legal issues.
* Deputise for Senior Company Lawyers or General Counsel, addressing complex corporate, legal, and governance matters for the Board, GCE, and Executive team, including participation in high-level meetings.
* Manage the external legal panel, oversee billing and commissioning, and ensure effective governance and communication of legal advice.
* Draft Group policies and advise on company secretariat, data protection, procurement, development projects, corporate governance, and regulatory law, including EU and government compliance.
* Uphold the organisation's equality duties and role-specific commitments.
Essential Criteria
* A qualified barrister or solicitor with a current practicing certificate or entitlement to hold one in Northern Ireland.
* Have experience in at least two of the following areas: general commercial agreements, business-related legal matters, commercial property/developments/estates law (excluding domestic conveyancing), or corporate governance.
* Proven experience in either a multi-faceted organisation or a fast-paced legal environment.
* Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, with an awareness of key customers.
* Strong leadership abilities, including delivering difficult messages and managing conflicting views, as well as the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
