Now Charis is ready to be taken through the next phase of its growth plan and needs to introduce a new product management role, to bring a fresh discipline into the heart of the business, blending professional procurement management with creative marketing flair.
Our clients include major organisations across a range of business sectors, so you will need to display the gravitas and high professional standards necessary to build relationships across our growing supplier portfolio, becoming one of the company’s senior brand ambassadors. Managing a newly qualified procurement professional and engaging collaboratively across all of the business functions, you will be capable of understanding the critical details of a broad portfolio of products and services. You will also need to be comfortable researching suppliers and business partners, finding negotiated and pragmatic purchasing solutions which reflect the strategic quality framework we expect of our products. The role will help us build an inventive, competitive and progressive offering for our varied and expanding list of clients, sometimes against the backdrop of a complex regulatory framework and tight seasonal deadlines. You will own the product management thought leadership process, utilising your experience of managing multiple procurement processes diligently, alongside your ability to imagine fully rounded product propositions which help the Commercial Team to maintain and expand our client portfolio.
Main Responsibilities
* Define and implement the principles and policies for product selection, and using a range of effective suppliers, ensure they meet business requirements and strategic goals
* Design and execute a long range product strategy, chairing the product forum and co-ordinating the insights from customer and competitor analysis
* Design and deliver the product procurement roadmap to meet business objectives and the broader strategic vision
* Manage, coach and develop a procurement professional and build a team which will provide value and deliver essential services to the wider business
* Research and understand the supplier marketplace and ensure there is a blend of suppliers to manage the supply chain, in order to meet supply targets within seasonal deadlines
* Pro-actively manage key supplier contracts and take ownership of negotiations, contract reviews and discussions with internal stakeholders and external legal advisors when necessary
Knowledge, Experience and Competencies
* Educated to degree level
* Ideally Professionally Qualified and a member of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS)
* Demonstrable experience in a senior procurement role, leading strategic purchasing through all stages of the procurement process
* Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and influence
* Experience of leading, managing, coaching and developing a team, ability to work collaboratively and comfortable working across different business functions
* Proven experience of building, from concept to delivery, whole product or service propositions in collaboration with multi-functional teams
* Ability to write well-structured content in plain English and present effectively to a range of stakeholders
* Experience of reviewing and understanding supplier contracts
* Excellent planning and organising skills
* Ability to interpret and analyse information, and use insight to build effective processes
* Proven decision making and problem-solving skills
* Highly commercial and numerate
