Role Overview:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing one-to-one support for a Year 2 student with specific learning needs. The successful candidate must be comfortable with this 1:1 work, offering tailored support in the classroom and during activities. * Help the student develop key skills such as independence, communication, and problem-solving, to enable them to progress both academically and socially.
Challenges the Student May Face:
* Difficulty with Communication: The student may struggle to express themselves verbally, affecting their ability to fully engage in classroom activities and interact with peers.
* Emotional Regulation: The student may experience challenges with managing emotions, such as frustration, anxiety, or low self-esteem, which can impact their learning and behavior.
* Social Interaction: The student may find it difficult to form friendships or understand social cues, leading to isolation or difficulty in group activities.
* Learning Delays: The student may experience delays in areas such as reading, writing, or numeracy, requiring additional support to achieve their academic goals.
* Behavioral Challenges: The student may occasionally display disruptive behavior or require extra guidance to maintain focus and attention during lessons.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Previous experience working with children, particularly in an SEN setting, is highly desirable.
* A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is preferred.
* Knowledge and understanding of Special Educational Needs, particularly for children with communication difficulties, emotional regulation challenges, or learning delays.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children.
* Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude when working with children who face challenges.
* A proactive and flexible approach to supporting children's diverse needs.
* A current DBS check or the willingness to undertake one (we can assist in obtaining this if necessary).
