Our client, a prominent food manufacturer with a strong presence in both the UK and international markets, is seeking an experienced Technical Manager / Specialist for an interim or fixed-term position (3 – 6 months).
The successful candidate will report into the Head of Technical and will be responsible for supporting the technical department in managing key technical relationships with major retail partners, including conducting site visits, collaborating with the Quality Systems Manager to maintain and enhance Quality and Food Safety Systems, and ensuring the site is prepared for BRC audits. Additionally, you will play a key role in mentoring and onboarding new team members to ensure a seamless integration.
The role will require a flexible approach to provide support across the technical team and we are keen to speak with seasoned technical professionals who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced, people-oriented organisation.
Interim Technical Manager / Specialist – Key Requirements:
1. Degree or diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline
2. Strong people skills, mentoring and coaching
3. Proven experience managing technical relationships with major retailers
4. HACCP Lead Auditor certification, with exposure to TACCP/VACCP would be ideal
5. Extensive experience in Quality/Food Safety auditing and management
6. Proficient in Quality and Food Safety Management Systems
7. Ideally, proven experience in microbiological monitoring and methods
8. Familiarity with Food Safety legislation (e.g., FDA, EFSA, ISO)
