To support the Lead Care Coach for Nursing/Maternity Assistants in the assessment of training needs, implementation, development and delivery of education and support programmes for Nursing/Maternity Assistants within the UHNM and ensuring safe and effective clinical / education practice. Promote and implement initiatives aimed at developing and enhancing the quality of Nursing Assistants and support them in their continuing professional development to enable them to achieve agreed competencies. Providing support to the Lead Care Coach assisting in developing innovative and evidence-based roles for Nursing/Maternity Assistants.
Act as a professional and credible role model and adopting a pastoral role for Nursing/Maternity Assistants. The Senior Care Coach will actively encourage and empower staff towards developing personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential; attaining, maintaining and enhancing competence within their role as Nursing/Maternity Assistants. Provide clear, consistent and accurate advice, under the direction of the Lead Care Coach for Nursing Assistants, to Ward Managers and clinical staff about the Nursing Assistant’s role and its development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Working within an educational environment. Supporting and reinforcing the values and standards of compassion and respect in care, demonstrating analysis and decision-making skills. Supporting in the delivery of educational sessions to Nursing Assistants, providing a clinically and educationally excellent, high-quality service which will influence and facilitate change within the organisation.
* When delivering training sessions and supporting staff clinically, promote that all staff are aware of and adhere to all relevant Trust policies and procedures as part of educational activity.
* Work in partnership with staff from HEI and local colleges and the Care Coach in the development of the Nursing Assistant development pathway.
* Use advanced knowledge and skills in negotiating and agreeing level of competence.
* Will be required to interpret and manage complex, confidential and sensitive information.
* Network with colleagues within the UHNM, HEI’s and colleges to enable delivery of varied education and training programmes.
* Use excellent presentation skills to deliver training and clinical education presentations relating predominantly to the Nursing Assistant skill set consisting of large and small groups. On occasions may be required to deliver to registered staff. Contribute to the design and the delivery of informal and formal teaching programmes.
