Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Drilling Engineer, based in Aberdeen.
Role and description of job
* Design a well or working from designs provided by a Senior Drilling Engineer, create a well programme in compliance with the company's Management System by analysing offset data, generating and evaluating design options using Landmark suite of software, assessing risk, preparing detailed design and programme documents.
* Preparing Examination and Notification/Consent applications.
* Preparing time and cost estimates and assisting Drilling Accountant with cost tracking during well operations.
* Procuring services, equipment and materials and co-ordinating suppliers and service providers for drilling, completing or working over the well.
* Provide technical support for the pre-contract invitation to tender and tender evaluation processes, with subsequent technical support for the commercial contract drafting.
* Prepare procurement documentation for the recommendation of specific services, equipment and personnel.
* Prepare and present Well design reviews for conceptual design, BOD and DWOP.
* Prepare and present risk assessments.
* Issue programme amendments as required, ensuring adequate peer review, risk assessments and approval authority.
* Compile weekly summary of well operations for the UK HSE.
* Participate in the daily calls to the rig and assist the project team in organising support activities.
* Compile a comprehensive End-Of-Well Report with operational lessons learnt captured and implemented and ensure all daily reports received from offshore are correct and filed correctly.
* Compile a well file (hard copy and electronic) with data accumulated during the well construction phase.
* Supports well delivery efficiency with benchmarking and performance analysis.
* Ensure any instances of non-productive time are fully investigated and closed out (determine root cause, define actions to prevent recurrence).
* Assist the Wells Function by providing input and resource to improve Wells Management System, Wells supply chain planning and other functional processes.
* Occasional offshore visits to support well operations.
* Meet all company, partner, and regulatory reporting requirements at the end of well or project.
* Participates in Wells' duty rota and provides support to the Incident Management Team in the event of a rig-related incident.
Requirements
The preferred candidate would have knowledge and experience in the following:
* Well design and planning of P+A activities.
* Experienced user in Landmark well planning software package.
* Operational experience of slot recovery / P+A operations especially section milling, remedial cementing to establish annular barriers and casing recovery.
* ERD design and practices, including casing floatation.
* Complex well paths and managing anti-collision on a congestion well pattern for a mature field.
* UK platform wells operation.
* UK regulatory regime.
A current IWCF L4 Well Control and UK Medical and Survival are also required.
