Description
Summary: Responsible for managing and maintaining the Bill of Materials (BOM) for our products, ensuring accuracy and completeness. This role requires an understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes. The BOM Management Specialist will work closely with design engineers and production teams to ensure that all components and materials are correctly specified. Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining part numbers and BOMs which require strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Create, modify and maintain part numbers in the ERP system.
* Maintain consistency and accuracy in describing parts and part numbers and ensure compliance with drawing format and part naming conventions.
* Convert data received from various departments into the required format for entry into the ERP system.
* Create, modify and manage complete and accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) for all products.
* Collaborate with design engineers to ensure BOMs reflect current design.
* Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and manage BOM revisions to reflect changes in design, material or suppliers.
* Participate in the change order process and new product introduction, taking responsibility for ERP-related activities.
* Additional duties as deemed necessary by management.
Education and Experience:
* A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of experience in General Engineering desired.
* Have a working knowledge of BOM management and ERP systems; ability to interpret technical drawings.
* Active user/experience with engineering software including AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Experience with PDM and PLM software and processes is also preferred.
* Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project and Jira.
* Must be personable and utilize good human relation principles in order to interact with fellow employees and others necessary to complete job assignments.
* Good communication skills and works well with other departments such as Procurement, Production Control, and Product Management to solve problems related to Engineering issues, manufacturing documentation, and/or bills of materials.
* Highly motivated with a high attention to detail to ensure rapid and accurate data entry.
* Good organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills to ensure consistent completion of multiple active projects.
* A team player that can effectively collaborate in groups and/or work independently to complete tasks.
