Work, Health & Safety (WHS) at the City is a critical responsibility. Over the past year we embarked on designing and launching our WHS strategy, and this year, we will embed within our culture safe practices so they become second nature. A key component of our strategy is establishing a robust contractor management framework and supporting initiatives.
And this is where you come in – you get to take the lead role, working with key stakeholders across the City, to shape and embed our future contractor management framework and initiatives to both protect and support our City.
About the Position
Following a review of our contractor management processes, and associated findings and recommendations, this position has been newly created to ensure the successful delivery of small to large, and concurrent projects that will deliver the desired contractor management framework for the City, including WHS related outcomes.
Reporting to the Director Corporate Services and working closely with the Chief People Officer, you will lead this critical large-scale project from design through to execution.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the planning of projects to manage interdependencies and delivery within schedule, budget and resource constraints;
* Design, plan and coordinate the project(s), and with the endorsement of the project sponsor and relevant stakeholders, recommend and implement project amendments and addenda;
* Liaise and consult with stakeholder groups both internal and external to the organisation to ensure that projects are successfully delivered to customer expectations;
* Contribute to the engagement of resources and services for project delivery;
* Manage projects concurrently against performance targets on scope, schedule, budget, risks, quality and benefits;
* Monitor project progress and formally report on issues and exceptions to inform management decisions and escalation;
* Coordinate the planning and execution of business change activities and deliverables, inclusive of stakeholder management, communication and training;
* Contribute to the development of strategies and methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness and benefits of implemented initiatives;
* Maintain open and collaborative communication with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation;
* Liaise with vendors and manage contracts to ensure successful service delivery and appropriate handover of any information technologies to business support and ICT in-house teams.
About You

* Significant relevant experience as a Project Manager
* Strong knowledge of contractor management frameworks, procurement, WHS and operations, including an understanding of WHS legislation
* Highly developed communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with individuals, demonstrated people management skills at all levels.
* Knowledge of project management processes and business analysis processes and the methodologies related to the implementation of business related projects.
* Knowledge of pre-project planning, understanding business needs and the viability of proposed solutions.
* Experience in managing and leading small to large complex projects that deliver business and contractor management solutions.
* Experience in delivering contractor management and WHS programs of work
* Experience in managing project teams across complex organisations using both internal and external resources.

This maximum term permanent full-time position is a Level 9 Inside Workforce Agreement position which attracts a salary from $123,500 - $130,000 gross per annum plus superannuation.
