Data Protection Consultant
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Data Protection Consultant to support privacy compliance and governance across multiple regions. This role involves acting as Data Protection Officer (DPO) for UK entities, handling subject access requests, regulatory compliance, and data protection agreements, while also contributing to group-wide privacy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as DPO for UK entities, ensuring compliance with UK Data Protection Act and GDPR.
* Handle subject access requests, advise on UK-specific privacy issues, and review data processing agreements.
* Support global data protection programs, including training, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of data protection policies, governance frameworks, and processes.
* Lead projects to enhance the Data Protection Management System (DPMS).
Your Profile:
Essential:
* Proven experience in data protection compliance, either in-house or in a law firm.
* Certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent.
* Strong understanding of GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and related regulations.
* Ability to translate legal requirements into practical privacy programs.
* Experience engaging with multiple stakeholders across an international business.
* Fluent in English and willingness to travel occasionally.
Desirable:
* Legal qualification (Solicitor in England & Wales) is preferred but not required.
* Experience in project and process management for DPMS.
* Knowledge of upcoming EU regulations, including EU Data Act and AI Act.
* German language skills (business proficiency) are a plus.
