Job Purpose:
The Training Coordinator’s role is to work with employers to identify apprentice roles and training requirements; assist with the recruitment and selection of appropriate candidates; provide potential candidates with advice and guidance; and guide both the employer and apprentice through the recruitment process and paperwork.
Responsibilities:
* Promoting the Skills Group provision to young people, their parents, schools and potential employers
* Helping employers identify apprenticeship vacancies, and assisting with drawing up job descriptions and advertising
* Recruiting young people to fill apprenticeship vacancies or enrolling them on to the study programme in preparation for an apprenticeship
* Undertaking rigorous initial assessment of potential learners and using the outcomes of this to provide guidance on the appropriate programme of learning to meet their career aspirations
* Agreeing learning plans with potential learners to identify and meet their specific training needs, strengths and weaknesses
* Finding placements, either with an employer or on a trial basis, and undertaking Health & Safety checks to determine the appropriateness of the placement
* Completing all Skills Group paperwork, including any reviews, in a timely and accurate manner, while complying with audit requirements
* Undertaking a thorough induction for all learners following agreed Skills Group procedures.
* Acting as a mentor for learners throughout their training programmes and providing support to the Trainer/Assessor where necessary, in order to overcome any potential barriers to progression and achievement
* Working as a team with other training coordinators to meet business plan and contract targets, in particular with respect to the number of starts and retention
* Representing Skills Group to both potential learners and employers at external events and those organised by Skills Group
* Working with the Quality department to support your continuous professional development and meeting of targets, as set out in your personal development plan
Person Specification:
* Flexible approach to understanding and meeting employers’ needs for training
* Ability to communicate with employers ranging from semi-skilled staff to company directors
* Capable of recognising relevant skills and potential within young people
* Learning and Development Award NVQs would be beneficial, such as Advice and Guidance or Coordination of Learning and Development
* Prior experience of working with young people in an advisory role
* Demonstrable experience of working in a sales role and meeting sales/recruitment targets
* Good communication skills and the ability to interact with staff at all levels, employer representatives and apprentices
* Computer literate, particularly with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
* Flexibility and the ability to work for the occasional evening and/or weekend
* It is essential that you are willing to travel, have your own car and possess a full, valid driving licence
* Willingness to work outside of regular hours to support the needs of the business.
