Senior Buyer
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
We are looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to manage procurement processes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role involves sourcing materials, negotiating contracts, and ensuring an efficient supply chain to support business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the purchasing process, ensuring timely sourcing and delivery of materials to meet production needs.
2. Oversee supply chain activities, including planning, sourcing, manufacturing, and delivery.
3. Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to negotiate favourable terms and pricing.
4. Identify and resolve supply chain challenges efficiently.
5. Address quality issues with suppliers and ensure timely resolution of rejected deliveries.
6. Coordinate with freight forwarders to maintain shipment schedules and prevent disruptions.
7. Implement and manage procurement strategies to optimise costs and improve efficiency.
8. Work closely with warehouse, quality, and planning teams to streamline operations.
9. Use manufacturing software systems to track and manage procurement processes.
10. Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and supplier improvements.
11. Track stock levels of high-demand materials and assist in planning procurement schedules.
12. Support the Purchasing Manager in identifying and mitigating potential supply chain risks.
13. Provide administrative support to the Purchasing and Planning team as required.
14. Assess supplier performance and hold regular meetings to improve collaboration and efficiency.
Requirements:
1. Minimum of 3 years' experience in a purchasing or procurement role within a manufacturing environment.
2. CIPS qualification (completed or in progress) or equivalent purchasing certification.
3. Experience working with ERP systems for procurement and supply chain management.
4. Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
5. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
6. Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
7. Strong communication skills with the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
8. Confident in handling difficult supplier discussions while maintaining professionalism.
