Bridge House School are recruiting for an Assistant Head Teacher to join our school team.
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic leader to oversee the daily operations of our middle school campus, ensuring smooth and effective management that enables the best possible education for children and young people with special needs. The successful candidate will be an outstanding relationship builder, driven by a passion for creating positive outcomes for pupils and fostering a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.
This role would suit an experienced KS2 or Secondary teacher who has some previous operational leadership experience. As Assistant Headteacher, with Head of school responsibilities, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the school’s direction, translating its aims and objectives into actionable policies and impactful practices.
You will form part of a Senior Leadership Team (SLT) who work closely together to implement strategies that drive excellence in teaching, learning, and pupil outcomes. Your energy, moral purpose, and ability to inspire others will be instrumental in cultivating a positive, inclusive, and high-performing school culture.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & School Operations
* Day-to-day management of the campus, ensuring smooth daily operations and addressing any immediate issues.
* Implement the school's vision, ethos, and strategic direction, working in partnership with the Headteacher and SLT.
* Oversee compliance with all regulatory requirements, championing best practices to achieve optimal pupil outcomes.
* Support and develop teaching staff, ensuring high-quality teaching, professional development, and a culture of accountability.
Teaching & Learning Leadership
* Lead on effective teaching and learning practices, ensuring data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
* Provide training and support for staff, particularly in achieving identified outcomes from monitoring and evaluation exercises.
* Lead the Early Career Teacher (ECT) programme, ensuring high-quality induction, mentoring, and training for new teachers.
Pastoral Care, Safeguarding & Inclusion
* Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the campus, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and personal development of all students.
* Support students with autism, emotional and behavioural difficulties, ADHD, and associated complex needs in an SEN setting.
* Work alongside the Attendance Manager to improve attendance and punctuality.
* Foster a culture of inclusivity and student support, ensuring that pastoral care is proactive and impactful.
Staff & Community Engagement
* Mentor, manage, and develop staff, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
* Lead on staff duties, school rotas, and cover arrangements to ensure smooth school operations.
* Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies, ensuring an integrated approach to student support.
* Act as the main spokesperson for the campus, communicating effectively with staff, students, parents, and stakeholders.
School Compliance, Data, and Facilities Management
* Ensure legal, regulatory, and inspection requirements are met, preparing reports for the governing body.
* Use data to monitor performance, inform decision-making, and drive school improvement initiatives.
* Oversee the maintenance and development of campus facilities and infrastructure, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.
