MMP Consultancy are looking to recruit an Income Officer to join a Housing Association on a temporary basis. Responsible for taking prompt and appropriate action where accounts (current and former) have an arrears balance. Dealing with account queries from residents regarding payment and account balance from incoming telephone queries, correspondence and office interviews with internal and external customers regarding payment collection. Managing the legal process from start to finish, working with solicitors where required, To ensure all residents receive rent statements on a quarterly basis and rent comparison information on an annual basis. To ensure all residents receive accurate rent review notifications in line with our Rent Policy and legislative requirements. To instruct the housing officers to undertake home visits and offer advice, assistance and support to residents who are in arrears with a view to negotiating mutually acceptable repayment agreements. To be part of a wider housing team and duty system handling general housing queries. Keep former tenant arrears levels within agreed targets through the proper and effective management of rent/service charge and sub-accounts. To make decisions to ensure that cases are escalated through the stages at the appropriate time, including instructing Trace and Debt Recovery Agencies and actioning cases requiring court action. To negotiate with former tenants by reaching an agreement to clear arrears, always trying to ensure that the maximum affordable amount is agreed. To be responsible for promotion of the most appropriate payment method for the former tenant and update the system accordingly.
