Purpose of Role:
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Head of End User Compute (EUC) and SaaS applications will lead the department's EUC function, with responsibility for the strategic direction, architecture, and delivery of services related to SaaS, Microsoft 365 (M365), telephony, conferencing, and end-user devices (including printing and peripherals). This role includes oversight of key architectural components, project support, and service integration through the department's SIAM ecosystem.
The role is responsible for defining and leading the strategic direction of service architecture within the organization, working closely with technology, business, and service management teams to drive service innovation, scalability, and resilience.
The role involves direct management of the Deputy Head of End User Compute and requires collaboration with various stakeholders, ensuring services are secure, scalable, and aligned with government policies. The Head of EUC will oversee architecture governance, change management, documentation, and policy compliance for EUC, SaaS, and related services.
The role will work closely with partners, technology, business, and service management teams to drive service innovation, scalability, and resilience.

Key Deliverables:
* End User Compute architecture and roadmap documentation
* approved security and change management documentation, including CAB submissions
* ArchiMate models for EUC, SaaS, and SIAM services
* risk assessments, compliance reports, and audit findings
* updated policies and guidance for EUC services
* procurement evaluation reports and supplier agreements with architecture and security terms
Responsibilities
Scope of responsibilities includes:
1. Strategic Leadership and Roadmap Development:
* define and implement the strategic roadmap for End User Compute, ensuring alignment with business and government requirements
* lead and manage the EUC team, including the Deputy Head of End User Compute
* provide leadership for governance bodies, including the Technical Advisory Group (TAG), with approval authority for project and service initiatives
2. Architecture and Oversight:
* Develop and maintain the EUC architecture, including SaaS, M365, telephony, collaboration platforms and end-user devices
* Oversea significant technical and service changes through the Change Advisory Board (CAB), ensuring architecture alignment and security compliance
* Provide architectural oversight for EUC Cloud Based Application (SaaS) projects, ensuring delivery meets service, security, and performance requirements
* Model EUC, SaaS, and SIAM service architectures using ArchiMate or similar frameworks
3. Service Integration, Service Architecture and Supplier Management:
* oversee the integration of services within the department's SIAM ecosystem, providing governance for Technical Account Management (TAM)
* collaborate with suppliers to ensure that EUC services meet performance, compliance, and security standards
* continuously improve service delivery through supplier performance reviews and operational enhancements
* develop and implement the organization's service architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with agency goals
* define service design principles, frameworks, and standards to ensure consistency and best practice
4. Compliance, Policy, and Guidance:
* ensure all services adhere to government policies, security regulations, and best practices
* develop, update, and maintain EUC, SaaS, and SIAM policies, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation
* provide guidance to teams and stakeholders on service architecture, security, and operational standards
5. Project and Change Management:
* collaborate with project teams to align EUC architecture with business requirements
* act as the security and architecture approver for major projects, providing input on risk, access control, and compliance
* ensure business analysts (BAs) produce clear, security-aligned output requirements for EUC projects and services
6. Risk and Access Management:
* implement and manage role-based access control (RBAC) across all EUC services, ensuring secure access to data and applications
* identify and mitigate risks associated with EUC services, escalating critical risks where necessary
* ensure risk assessments are conducted regularly for key services and technologies
7. Documentation and Maintenance:
* maintain up-to-date documentation for EUC, SaaS, and SIAM services, including architectural models and compliance reports
* implement a review cycle to ensure documentation reflects changes in service architecture, policy, or regulations
8. Procurement and Supplier Evaluation:
* lead the evaluation of suppliers during procurement activities, ensuring services meet EUC architecture and security requirements
* provide technical and architectural input into procurement contracts, defining service-level and security-related obligations
