Position Summary
The Nuclear Medicine Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the nuclear medicine department. The supervisor ensures the efficient and safe delivery of high-quality service to patients while providing leadership and guidance to a team of nuclear medicine technologists.
Education
1. Required: Graduation from an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology
2. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related field of study.
Required License and Certification
1. Required: Must be ARRT (N) or CNMT certified.
2. Required: Must obtain a license from the Maryland Board of Physicians Quality Assurance to practice as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in the state of Maryland.
Experience
1. Required: Minimum 5 years as a Nuclear Medical Technologist.
2. Preferred: Three years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience, including one year of work-lead or supervisory experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervises and performs all nuclear medicine procedures to the highest quality.
2. Provides input back to staff regarding individual image quality.
3. Compiles statistical and QA data as needed.
4. Maintains exam protocols to assure exam quality with minimum exposure levels.
5. Coordinates with personnel of other departments regarding patient and/or staff related problems.
6. Makes recommendations concerning the purchase, maintenance, and/or repair of equipment.
7. Responsible for the orientation and training of staff.
8. Interviews and recommends the hiring of new staff members.
9. Performs annual performance evaluations of staff.
10. Performs disciplinary action as outlined in the TidalHealth handbook.
11. Performs diagnostic, therapeutic and quality control of Nuclear Medicine procedures.
12. Operates radionuclide imaging devices (ex. gamma camera) to perform imaging procedures.
13. Calculates, prepares, and administers diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals as per established protocols.
14. Scans patients and performs QC tests using approved standards.
15. Responsible for the oversight and compliance of the Radiation Safety Program - ALARA for the nuclear medicine department.
16. Serves as a required member of the Radiation Safety Committee.
17. Consults with the RSO and contracted physicists regarding amendments to the radioactive materials license.
18. Ensures compliance with DEP State of Maryland, NRC, and JCAHO regulations.
19. Demonstrates and practices strict adherence to radiation safety.
20. Optimizes the imaging devices to ensure quality imaging.
21. Assures efficient workflow within the department.
22. Demonstrates leadership skills and supervises others in the provision of patient care.
Work Schedule
Day shift - Monday - Friday.
