The Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Psychiatrist to provide clinical input and leadership to the North Somerset Recovery Team, based at the Coast Resource. 1 day a week will be based with the Rehabilitation service, based in Worle, North Somerset.
The North Somerset Recovery service aims to provide specific interventions to enable those with severe and enduring mental health problems achieve their highest level of independent function and recovery.
Elmham Way is a 7 bedded community based inpatient step-down and rehabilitation unit. Patients are admitted from the acute wards in AWP as a step-down while a community support care package is organised and from direct from the community.
You will join a well-established, supportive group of North Somerset Consultants who hold regular Peer Support/Supervision Groups.

Main duties of the job
You will deliver direct interventions to service users at a level of intensity according to need including those service users who require an assertive approach who are difficult to engage. This will include ongoing assessment, diagnoses (including review and clarification) and treatment of mental and physical health needs.
You will supervise the medical team that provides medical care and act as RC for service users in collaboration with other teams and Consultants.
You will be responsible for the mental health care of service users in line with new ways of working, monitoring and evaluating service delivery and care through regular reviews.
You will actively participate in team and personal caseload management and supervision.
You will participate in MHA assessments where appropriate as well as facilitating CTO discussions.
You will work 1 day a week at Elmham Way and will be responsible for arranging pre admission assessments, the development of appropriate treatment plans for those taken into service, regularly reviewing such treatment plans and promoting rehabilitation and recovery. Preparing reports and attending Mental Health Review Tribunals will be required, as will reporting to the Ministry of Justice for any restricted patients. You will provide active care pathway planning and will liaise carefully with other agencies responsible for delivering those plans including local authority personnel, independent sector personnel and service users and carers.

* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
Desirable
* Relevant Higher Degree e.g MD, PHD, Msc or other additional clinical qualifications
* MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Eligibility

* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months of gaining CCT
