Our multi-skilled Recreation team blends elements of recreation and leisure counselling to create an individualised approach to activities that are meaningful and tailored to our clients’ interests.
Your new role
An opportunity exists for an experienced, proactive, and dynamic individual to join our Recreation Team as the Senior Recreation Coordinator on a Full Time Fixed Term basis, from 24 February 2025 to 01 August 2025. In this fast-paced and multi-faceted role, you will provide direction and support to Wintringham’s Residential Aged Care Recreation team and volunteers.
Reporting to the Recreation Program Manager, you will ensure that the recreation services provided by Wintringham are of the highest standard, providing leadership and supervision while guiding and developing the program through innovative and creative recreation plans and strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain the Recreation Programs throughout Wintringham
2. Assist Recreation Coordinators to continually improve the quality of recreation for each resident or client through internal audits, reviews of programs, relevant KPIs, and budgets
3. Maintain the dignity and integrity of the Recreation Program throughout Wintringham and with our partners
4. Treat all clients with dignity and respect, upholding the fundamental principles of “Options Rights Dignity”
5. Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times
6. Ensure service provision is of a high standard, relevant to a client’s assessed needs and is culturally and gender sensitive
7. Pursue any complaint about services without retribution
8. Keep statistics and data as required
Leadership and Management:
1. Provide key leadership and supervisory roles that guide and develop the program through innovative and creative recreation plans and strategies
2. Provide line management, formal supervision, and mentoring to Recreation Coordinators, Officers, and Volunteers
3. Ensure the program continues to be reviewed within a continuous quality improvement framework and maintain relevant accreditation standards
4. Support the Recreation Coordinator and Site/Program Managers to manage issues and incidents on-site
5. Promote a non-institutional philosophy within the programs by recognising and promoting the rights of Wintringham clients
6. Oversee and ensure compliance with relevant legislative standards and guidelines across the relevant programs
7. Ensure the team is aware of and complies with organisational policies and procedures
8. Ensure continuity of service through the recruitment and training of suitable recreation staff as required
9. Notify the Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator of any issues relating to staff or client safety
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
1. A degree-level qualification in Recreation, Community Development, Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, or equivalent discipline
2. Experience in delivering innovative recreational services
3. Sound understanding of Aged Care Accreditation Standards, Housing and Homelessness Service sector, My Aged Care, NDIS, and other relevant service systems
4. Knowledge of and commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement
5. Demonstrated skills in financial management, including monitoring and reporting of variances
