An exciting opportunity has presented for a pharmacist with clinical cancer experience to join our cancer pharmacy team. This post is a permanent position within the haematology team to work closely with the Lead Clinical Pharmacist to manage the growing service.
As a world-leading research facility and one of the largest haematology tertiary referral centres, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver cutting-edge licensed and clinical trials to malignant and non-malignant haematology patients.
As a registered pharmacist, you will provide a person-centred approach to care, and manage specialist pharmacy services to haematology patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) or haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for malignant and non-malignant indications. You will collaborate with the Lead Clinical Pharmacist to improve the pharmacy service for these patients and educate pharmacy and multidisciplinary staff on these innovative treatments.

Main duties of the job
The main day-to-day responsibilities would include:
1. To provide highly specialised and complex evidence-based clinical advice and information to the multidisciplinary team on the care and treatment of haematology patients.
2. To deliver and promote high quality, cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
3. To manage the day-to-day delivery of clinical pharmacy services to haematology patients.
4. To manage cancer pharmacists delivering clinical pharmacy services to haematology patients.
5. To support the training and development of cancer pharmacists in the field of haematology.
6. To support the opening and management of haematology clinical trials.

The cancer pharmacy team consists of specialist cancer pharmacists and technicians that work for the Cancer Division and is fully integrated within the Division to provide clinical pharmacy services to patients. The team also collaborates closely with the UCLH Pharmacy Department to ensure pharmacy standards are maintained.
UCLH is one of Europe's largest centres for blood disorder treatment and HSCT, and the chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell team manages patients with both cancer and non-cancer indications. The cancer pharmacy team are well integrated into the HSCT and CAR-T teams and they collaborate to deliver person-centred care alongside the multidisciplinary team.
The UCLH Macmillan Cancer Centre (MCC) opened in 2012 and encompasses our busy outpatient clinics and daycare facilities, as well as our growing ambulatory chemotherapy practice. The MCC also provides chemotherapy production services in a modern facility.
The UCLH Grafton Way Building (GWB) opened in 2022 and supports our expanding haematology service, which includes HSCT and CAR-T therapy.
The Wolfson Cellular Therapy Unit (WCTU) supports our JACIE-accredited transplant service, as well as the supply of cellular therapy products such as CAR T-cells.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential
* Master's degree in Pharmacy, or equivalent.
* Pharmacist Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience and expertise.
* Evidence of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.
Desirable
* Independent prescriber, or willingness to undertake an independent prescribing qualification.
* Advanced practitioner as defined by the Faculty of Cancer Pharmacy Advanced and Consultant Level Framework (ACLF).
* Evidence of formal management training.
Experience
Essential
* Minimum five years post-registration.
* Minimum of three years' experience as a clinical pharmacist in a cancer specialty including haematology.
* Experience of verifying prescriptions for systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT).
* Actively seeks to improve the ward and clinical services provided to enhance quality of care to cancer patients.
Desirable
* Experience as a clinical pharmacist in managing haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) patients including verification of conditioning prescriptions.
