The role
As a Reprographic Technician, you’ll provide an efficient, cost-effective document processing service to support the Babcock Marine business unit / departments and Ministry of Defence customers via the Devonport Reprographics Facility as directed by the Print Services Lead.
Day-to-day, you’ll use experience, initiative, and discretion to advise and negotiate with customers on the most cost-effective products that will suit their business requirements, using appropriate tools, methodologies, procedures, standards, policies, and equipment under supervision but with infrequent reference to others.
* Determine the most appropriate approach, tools, and techniques to meet customer requirements.
* Ensure that work accepted is carried out in the most cost-effective manner and is of a quality that is fit-for-purpose.
* Recommend and take part in the selection of reprographics equipment and processes.
* Advise customers on the benefits and availability of using wide format printing to support scanning of drawings and documents.
* Manage and control the output for high-quality print production, e.g., re-dedication brochures, leaflets, magazines, and booklets.
* Ensure main job functions, i.e., printing, copying, scanning, business card production, finishing, and routine maintenance required to meet service levels, are performed timely and professionally, and that any relevant documentation referred to is current.
This role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week and is based on-site at Devonport.
Essential experience of the Reprographic Technician:
* Experience in print finishing: Guillotining, collating, booklet making, numbering, perforating, gluing, padding, stapling, perfect binding, auto creasing.
* Good knowledge of print processes and a comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
* Full understanding and excellent working knowledge of all equipment and technology used to provide products and services.
* Ability to interact with all departments in Group IT and Third Party Organisations.
