Job summary The Neuroscience Research Team at Charing Cross Hospital is looking to recruit a Specialist Trainee or core medical Fellow (Clinical Fellow) to assist in clinical studies of Neuroscience Disease, including Parkinsons Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological studies on our portfolio. The post holder will be employed by the Trust, and be actively based in the Imperial Neuroscience Research Unit at Charing Cross Campus, which is governed by Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The position will be to provide clinical support for clinical trials of novel treatment agents for Diseases related to the Neurosciences. The clinical studies are performed in collaboration with commercial contract research organisations and industrial sponsors. We will only accommodate remote interviews in exceptional circumstances. Please make sure you are available on the day to attend the interview in-person. Main duties of the job The post holder will be required to recruit, screen and oversee clinical assessments of both Parkinson's and Multiple Sclerosis patients participating in the clinical trials, as well as other neurology specialties the research team may be involved with. The post holder will be expected to lead the clinical aspects of the study and perform and/or oversee the scheduled study visits and sampling for the entire study duration. The postholder will be supported by a Lead Research Nurse, a Nurse Team Leader, Research Nurses as well as Neurology Consultants.. The post holder should be competent in performing general physical and neurological examination, and have a reasonable understanding of Parkinson's and Multiple Sclerosis disease, and other neurological conditions. The ability to perform lumbar punctures unsupervised would be a bonus. The post holder should have knowledge and understanding of ICH-Good Clinical Practice, aware of the importance of adhering to these principles whilst conducting research. The successful candidate shall be provided with training as appropriate for a particular study but will also need to be well organised, show attention to detail, and function in a dynamic team environment as well as develop strong working relationships with the study investigators, the commercial CRO and the industrial sponsor.
