Job: Planning officer - Policy
Salary: Negotiable DOE
Contract: 6 months + rolling
Hours: 36 per week
IR35: Inside

To carry out a broad range of functions under the Town and Country Planning Acts and other related legislation relating to the production and implementation of planning policy documents.
To support the Head of Strategic Service and Local Plan Manager and the team to strengthen the council’s plan-making, place-making and infrastructure planning processes.
About the role:
1. Support the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the Local Plan and related policies.
2. Assist in drafting planning policy documents and guidance.
3. Help develop evidence base documents.
4. Support external commissions and data analysis for planning policies.
5. Organize and support public consultations and exhibitions.
6. Engage with stakeholders, local interest groups, and the public.
7. Monitor planning policies and maintain key databases.
8. Advise on the implications of external planning consultations.
9. Liaise with developers, landowners, and other authorities.
10. Provide advice to internal teams, councilors, and the public on planning matters.
11. Draft reports for council committees and working groups.
12. Represent the council in meetings and respond to planning enquiries.
