Key Requirements:
1. Chartered MCIPD or equivalent with demonstrable level of expertise relevant to the role.
2. Extensive experience in a senior HR role managing complex and challenging employee relations issues involving a range of stakeholders, including confidently handling challenging players and dealing – and wherever possible resolving – conflict.
3. Proven track record in developing and implementing strategic HR interventions that contribute to achievement of the organisation’s goals.
4. Extensive senior-level experience in HR and Organisational Development within a heavily trade unionised setting, including significant expertise in consulting and negotiating modifications to employment terms and conditions.
5. Experience in leveraging data and digital tools to enhance decision-making and improve services.
6. Ability to plan and manage all finance and budgets to meet performance targets.
The successful candidate will provide professional and insightful HR advice and guidance to the organisation’s senior leaders, driving HR excellence and fostering a culture of inclusivity and continuous performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide a key consultative role in the strategic and operational development of wide-ranging services, drawing on the jobholder’s specialist expertise.
2. Provide confident leadership and clear management so as to ensure the successful delivery of agreed objectives.
3. Act as trusted advisor to directorate senior leadership team and key stakeholders, developing HR strategies and providing professional HR guidance through a client-facing, diagnostic, coaching and facilitative approach.
4. Lead and develop an effective relationship with staff-led groups and trade unions, and in relation to trade unions playing a key role in consultation and negotiation.
5. Develop and utilise an in-depth knowledge of the designated directorate and organisation, its strategic objectives, and the impact of external and internal factors, to create evidence-based insight to shape business strategy.
6. Lead, mentor and develop the HR Consultancy Team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment.
7. Provide professional expertise to leaders and managers on particularly complex/sensitive employee relations issues, promoting best practice in people management.
