We are seeking a Night Support Worker to join our team in Catford, where you will play a vital role within the Offender Personality Disorder Housing Accommodation service. Your primary focus will be to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of our residents and participants back into the community. This will involve providing pathways, support, and appropriate interventions to facilitate successful resettlement, while collaborating with both internal and external partners to achieve the desired outcomes.
As a key worker, you will deliver high-quality support and ensure the safety, hygiene, and well-being of residents within the Housing Accommodation Support Services for individuals with Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) and histories of offending. This role entails engaging with residents, managing daily activities, maintaining a clean and secure environment, and implementing risk assessments and support plans effectively.
Rota: 37.5 hours per week, including shifts 9pm - 8:30am
ABOUT THE SERVICE
The Offender Personality Disorder Housing Accommodation Support Service (OPD HASS) pathway is jointly commissioned by HMPPS, NHS England, and NHS Improvement. OPD HASS delivers services for people in the criminal justice system who are deemed high risk and likely to meet criteria for personality disorder. The OPD HASS provision is managed by Penrose. The service offers specialist accommodation to high risk/high need men who require intensive support to overcome barriers to resettlement and progress towards independent living in the community.

What we are looking for:
1. Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours or a good understanding of the sector
2. IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience
3. Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs
4. Able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others
What we would like, but not essential:
1. Appropriate professional qualification: NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Health & Social Care/Community Justice or professional equivalent
2. Experience of providing housing support and practical assistance within a residential or outreach support role
3. Experience creating co-produced support plans and providing appropriate interventions for service users and liaising with other professionals
Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as a Support Worker for a caseload of Residents and Participants (R&P), contributing to the development of support plans, risk assessments, and reviews.
2. Provide advice, guidance, information, and life skills training to R&Ps.
3. Carry out welfare checks, ensuring the night service runs smoothly.
4. Ensure R&Ps understand their rights and responsibilities and have access to the right tools and resources to support them back into the community, such as supporting with welfare benefit claims and signposting them to the correct provisions.
5. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external persons and agencies.
6. Support R&Ps to take correct medication.
7. Assist with health and safety and other site-related maintenance and management.
8. Admin duties will vary.
Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed as long as it is within the capability and level of the position.
