Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse Manager to oversee the Mental Health residential and nursing care service of 20 beds within our home, Benfield Hall.
We are a small family owned service and are passionate about delivering the best quality mental health care and we want to maintain the delivery of our high standards of care and support with the right candidate as Manager. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of Care Home Management, Nursing Care, Clinical Practices and Quality Governance systems. This role is pivotal in fostering a collaborative team atmosphere while ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.
Duties
1. To manage all aspects of the overall management of the home.
2. To adhere to codes of professional conduct at all times (NMC/ GSCC) to maintain 24 hour responsibility for staff cover and supervision of the day to day management.
3. To maintain the home to standards required by CQC, NHS and local authorities in conjunction with the Directors.
4. Responsible for supervising staff in the planning and implementation of residents care.
5. Maintaining a high standard of client care and ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
6. To manage complaints and concerns from resident/visitors and refer to the Directors as appropriate.
7. Maintaining safe and appropriate staffing levels.
8. Recruiting, selecting and appointing staff members including catering and ancillary staff.
9. Implementing an effective induction programme and continuous in-service training for all staff members.
10. To adhere to and maintain the policies and procedures within the home.
11. To ensure all staff are aware of policies and procedures.
12. To organise and manage the pharmacy system within the Home and ensure that all medication requirements and documentation is carried out to NMC/CQC/Local Authority and RCN standards. Remaining up to date and incorporating best practice.
13. To ensure effective communication with all external agencies involved in residents care including all multidisciplinary team members.
14. To maintain and monitor all documentation to a professional standard.
15. To carry out staff appraisals annually to allow staff development and training requirements to be highlighted.
16. To organise and carry out regular staff supervisions in accordance with legislation and company policy.
17. To counsel staff on matters relating to conduct and standards of care, implementing disciplinary and grievance procedures as necessary.
18. To participate in management meetings and discuss problems, changes, improvements, etc.
19. To appreciate the necessity of working within a budget structure and manage appropriately with support from the Senior Management Team.
20. To apply cost effective management techniques and ensure that all staff have an awareness of cost control.
21. To maintain a high client occupancy within the home, participating in marketing directives where required.
22. To ensure all staff adhere to Health and Safety and all other Policies and Procedures.
Requirements
* Valid registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
* Ideally RMN trained.
* Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a healthcare setting, preferably in nursing homes.
* Strong knowledge of medication administration protocols and legal frameworks.
* Experience in managing teams effectively while promoting a positive work environment.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact compassionately with patients and their families.
* Familiarity with mental health residential and nursing care.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while demonstrating strong leadership qualities.
