Job Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Sprinkler Design Engineer to join their engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire protection systems design, particularly in commercial settings, and proficiency in AutoCAD. The role involves designing and drafting fire sprinkler systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with project teams to deliver high-quality and cost-effective solutions. Their office is based in Hertfordshire, so candidates must be within commutable distance to Hertfordshire but will also consider engineers in London.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design & Drafting:
o Develop detailed fire sprinkler system designs for commercial projects using AutoCAD.
o Create accurate and detailed 2D layouts, schematics, and installation drawings.
o Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and fire codes (e.g., NFPA standards).
2. Project Collaboration:
o Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to integrate fire protection systems into overall building designs.
o Participate in project meetings to provide technical support and guidance on fire sprinkler system designs.
o Coordinate with project managers to meet deadlines and project specifications.
Required Qualifications:
* Would ideally hold LPCB Basic Qualification but this is not essential.
Experience:
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in designing fire sprinkler systems for commercial buildings.
* Proven experience with AutoCAD, including 2D drafting and design.
Technical Skills:
* Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with other design software (e.g., Revit, HydraCAD) is a plus.
* Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and other relevant fire protection codes.
* Experience with hydraulic calculation software (e.g., HASS, AutoSPRINK) is advantageous.
Package:
* Salary of £45,000 - £55,000 DOE
