Overall Objective To lead, manage & develop sport science and strength and conditioning strategies at throughout all the academy age groups. To be consistent with the Academies vision and philosophy. To enable the academies young players to reach there full potential and maximise their physical and mental development. Key responsibilities Plan, deliver and evaluate physical development sessions for all the academy age groups incorporating designs that enhance the athletic football abilities of the young players. Assist the Lead Academy Physiotherapist with the development and implementation of the academy Sport Science philosophy that will integrate into the vision and structure of the club. Assist with the monitoring and assessment of young players’ physical development. This will include the management of data collection, analysis, reporting and providing feedback to coaches, parents and players. Assist with the practical implementation of appropriate nutrition and hydration strategies for young players. Apply an interdisciplinary approach that includes close links to all areas of the academy, for example working closely with the academy medical team to enhance the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries. Working closely with the coaching staff to help design sessions to gain physical rewards. Management of part-time Sports Science staff, providing support during training sessions. Be involved in the continual development of scientifically underpinned protocols for all aspects of sport science / strength and conditioning. Be involved in developing appropriate warm up/cool down/recovery routines. Implementation of health and wellbeing monitoring, incorporating discussions with players. Organisation and implementation of team and individual fitness plans to maximise player’s performance. Education to players on how to lead a professional and disciplined lifestyle. Provide nutritional advice to both players and parents on how to correctly provide nutrition for young athletes. Provide psychological support for players, parents and players. Carry out fitness testing of Academy players to identify weak areas that can be improved. Provide player talent identification by physical testing. Maintain accurate and up to date notes and documentation. Ensure all sport science and medicine EPPP criteria are fulfilled. Ensure all necessary qualifications are up to date. About The Candidate Essential Qualifications: • Bsc (Hons) in Sports Science FA Safeguarding Certificate • A valid full UK Driver’s License Desirable Skills & Experience: • 2 years’ experience working in an Academy of a professional football/sports club • The ability to work calmly under pressure • The ability to work effectively and safely, whilst working both independent and as part of a team • To always adhere to confidently and data protection procedures D esirable Qualities: • A genuine team player • Excellent levels of communication • Takes responsibility for ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard • Excellent timekeeping skills • Hardworking & Enthusiastic Interviews will be arranged on receipt of applications.
