The post holders are required to play a part in meeting agreed waiting list targets, including, where necessary, treating patients from other consultants' waiting lists. The appointees will take part in the urology emergency rota. This is currently 1:7 frequency. The appointees will take part in the administrative work relevant to their clinical commitment, and contribute as appropriate to the work of the Directorate. The appointee will take an active part in Audit and Clinical Governance. The appointees will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence, have a continuing responsibility for the patients in their care and for the proper function of the Department. Participation in Clinical research will be expected and encouraged. The Trust supports the requirements for continuing professional development (CPD) as laid down by the GMC and surgical colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities. Participation in trust mandatory training, job planning, and annual appraisal is a requirement. The Medical Director is the appointed Responsible Officer for revalidation. There is a trust-appointed revalidation lead to support doctors through the process.
