Role summary:
This role is to develop a market strategy, plans and tactics for the specific product portfolio group, aligning with the company strategy to develop sales and business growth across both regional and vertical markets.
It is the glue that binds our product strategy to the tactics we need to drive success in sales and marketing and to achieve results. You will be the product evangelist and will play an integral role in organizing product launches. You also know our buyers in depth including how and why they make their buying decisions. You back up strategic insights with market evidence and then use that knowledge to drive the development of positioning and messaging that resonates with buyers and empowers our sales channels to be successful. You also know our competitors well: what they do today and what they plan to do in the future.
You will collaborate with our marketing team to develop innovative programs that drive demand based on the benefits our products and solutions offer. Attention to detail and eye for quality are critical to your success, along with an ability to grasp and present our product’s value proposition in a way that resonates and clearly articulates how we solve our buyers’ problems. You track performance and have the data to prove what’s working and what isn’t. Work closely with European and Global product teams to share information both inwardly (to UK teams) and outwardly to European and Global.
You will provide commercial support for the assigned portfolio to achieve business goals of turnover and overall margin. (Application support specific support is the remit of the Applications team). This commercial support may take the form of sales support for large opportunities Work with all stakeholders including other product managers to develop market leading solutions.
Skills/Responsibilities:
* Grow revenue for the assigned product portfolio and supporting products and services.
* Provide and manage a structured approach to the development of the product range.
* Develop a detailed understanding of the market needs to assist the objectives of the business.
* Work closely with colleagues across the business and partner organisations to ensure sales opportunities are always maximised.
* Align product campaigns to the core strategic market development plan.
* Provide marketing collateral as required.
* Create inspirational product launches to the market and provide the necessary supporting information.
* Provide feedback on market needs and technical requirements for product development purposes.
* Manage and maintain pricing for the product portfolio in line with the market and business objectives.
* Provide effective monthly reporting on their product range.
Experience:
* Must have a recognisable qualification and/or experience relating to the industrial automation market and/or product portfolio.
* An inquisitive questioning personality with tenacious attitude.
* Team player.
* 5+ years of product marketing experience with a technical product or solution.
* Clear understanding of the role of marketing to create product positioning and go-to market plans to develop and increase market share.
* Exceptional ROI-tracking and data-analysis skills with the ability to prove what is –or isn’t—working.
* Must be a strong public speaker, comfortable in front of large, senior groups, and a solid writer.
* Excellent people and management communication skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross functional teams and third parties.
* Financially astute and capable to understand the financial sides of the product management.
* Full driving license.
