Victoria Ward is looking for a Band 3 healthcare assistant to join our friendly team. We are a busy 22-bedded acute renal and medical ward; you do not require renal experience for the job, but an interest in the area would be beneficial.

Main duties of the job
The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is keen to recruit enthusiastic and motivated people to join our hospital as Healthcare Assistant.
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals who have an interest in starting a career in healthcare and would like to gain highly sought-after NHS experience in the areas of an acute hospital setting. A caring nature, good communication skills, and a willingness to learn and develop are essential.
The post holder will provide high-quality essential care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Practitioner in a caring, compassionate, and sensitive manner:
* Acting always in the patient's best interests.
* Protecting and maintaining the patient's privacy and dignity at all times.
* Providing individualised care for a diverse group of patients, respecting personal beliefs and preferences.
* Alerting the Registered Practitioner and/or Ward/Department Manager to any change or concern relating to the welfare of the patient in a timely manner.
* Undertaking specific clinical skills relevant to the clinical area following training and assessment of competence (e.g., performing venepuncture, cannulation, and escorting patients).
* Providing enhanced levels of care to patients requiring additional supervision and support to ensure their personal safety and wellbeing needs are met.
* Providing supervision and guidance to junior/less-experienced staff.

Please note we are currently recruiting candidates who are able to work full time (37.5 hours per week) on a rota basis, 7 days a week (including bank holidays) on day and night shifts.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Care Certificate
* Successful completion of Trust's Band 2 Developmental Passport or ability to demonstrate equivalent level of competence
* QCF Level 3 in Health or Health and Social Care
* T Level in Health
Experience
* Experience as Health Care Assistant within an acute hospital environment or equivalent setting.
* Previous experience of working within the relevant specialty.
Skills
* Information technology literate.
* Evidence of previous involvement in supporting the development of other staff.
