Lawfront are looking for a Head of Learning and Development to join our group.
Having responsibility for around 1000 people will mean you'll come with substantial experience of both running an L&D function and leading a team - ideally within a legal or professional services environment.
So, who are Lawfront and why should you be interested?
Lawfront provides legal services to individuals and businesses through leading regional law firms - Farleys, Fisher Jones Greenwood, Brachers, Nelsons and Slater Heelis.
Our philosophy has been to acquire high-performing, mid-tier firms with an excellent regional brand, good-will and reputation; and then give them the investment and structure to be ambitious - but without losing their individuality or firm culture.
So, we think you get the best of both worlds, local firm values and big-firm investment and infrastructure.
As we further develop our offering across our partner firms, we're looking for someone to join us to drive our L&D function.
Role Overview:
The Head of Learning and Development will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive learning strategy across the group.
This role requires a deep understanding of adult learning principles, a strategic mindset, and the ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to drive the development of both our legal and non-legal teams.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing impactful learning programs and career pathways, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and ensuring that our people are equipped to thrive in an evolving legal landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
* Learning Strategy Development: Lead the design and execution of a comprehensive L&D strategy that aligns with the firm's business goals, talent needs, and growth objectives.
* Program Design & Delivery: Develop innovative learning programs, including leadership development, technical skills training, professional development, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with senior leaders, practice group heads, and People & Culture teams to identify learning needs and build programs that address specific challenges within the group.
* Talent Development: Drive initiatives to support the career growth and progression of all our employees, from induction programs to leadership pathways.
* L&D Performance Metrics: Implement measurement tools to assess the effectiveness of training programs, ensuring they deliver measurable business outcomes and personal growth.
* Learning Culture: Foster a learning culture that supports lifelong development, ensuring that employees feel empowered to take ownership of their professional growth.
* Budget and Resource Management: Oversee the L&D budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources while driving cost-efficiency and value.
* Vendor & External Partner Management: Manage relationships with external training providers and consultants to ensure quality and relevance of content.
* Compliance & Regulation: Ensure all learning and development activities comply with industry regulations and professional standards.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience (10+ years) in Learning and Development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally within a professional services or law firm environment.
* Expertise in adult learning principles, instructional design, and program delivery.
* Strong understanding of the legal sector and the specific L&D needs of law firms.
* Experience developing leadership programs and mentoring and coaching frameworks.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation.
* A strategic mindset with the ability to translate business goals into effective learning initiatives.
* Strong analytical skills to measure the impact of learning programs and demonstrate ROI.
* Ability to lead a team, manage multiple projects, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Relevant qualifications in Learning and Development, Human Resources, or a related field (e.g., CIPD)
The role will require some travel across the group's offices, but we're open on where you'll be based from, so happy to discuss your regular base.
