The Role
The business has real ambitions for further growth in the coming years and this, coupled with the retirement of the Head of Finance last year, has identified the need to appoint a Group Financial Controller. The appointed individual will have the benefit of working alongside the Finance Director and other existing team members who will share their knowledge of the business and allow the Group Financial Controller to manage and develop the team. The objective of the role will be to implement more robust financial controls and processes, driving change and making better use of financial analysis tools. In the coming years the successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the leadership team and progress to the role of Head of Finance.

It is crucial that the appointed candidate is a driven, qualified accountant with the ability to improve financial processes within an expanding business.
Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:
Financial & Statutory Reporting
1. Produce Group consolidation files and related journals
2. Prepare subsidiary accounts
3. Responsible for ongoing tax compliance (Corporation tax, VAT returns and other tax matters)
4. Keep up to date with technical accounting developments, providing support and advice to the finance team
5. Prepare and manage the audit timetable
6. Manage delivery of audit information requests
7. Liaise with advisers throughout the process including external auditors, tax advisers and pension scheme actuaries
8. Support in any ad-hoc projects
Controls & Process Improvement
1. Ensure a robust financial control environment
2. Design internal controls to mitigate financial risk and ensure they are fit for purpose and operate as intended
Management Accounting
1. Oversee the completion of the management accounting and month-end close process
2. Develop and deliver insightful MI and KPI reporting to support strategic decision-making, including monthly board report
3. Take ownership of business planning, budgeting, and forecasting process
4. Ad hoc analysis and modelling for FD
5. Partner with non-finance counterparts to influence operational
Team Management
1. Manage the Finance team, providing support, coaching, guidance and oversight as required
2. Point of escalation for the team and for internal issues
Basic Salary: £60,000 – 65,000 per annum, depending on experience
Company Pension: 9% employer contribution
Holiday Entitlement: 24 days + 10 public holidays
