Elvet Recruitment are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a rapidly expanding Infrastructure business. Our client is looking for a passionate and dynamic Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor as they continue growing the business throughout the UK. Opportunities are available across a variety of sectors and offer a flexible working environment with a hybrid of home, office, and client-based working.
Ideally, you will have obtained a BSc or MSc in a related degree, a strong background in infrastructure, a great team spirit, good communication skills, and bags of motivation and enthusiasm. Chartership is not essential, but the company encourages everyone to continually develop their skills and recognition in the industry.
Along with the typical range of contractor style quantity surveying skills, they are looking for someone who can flourish in the more contentious elements of the sector or who has a passion to do so. They are also looking for someone who will develop strong, collaborative relationships and help contribute to the growth of the business.
Projects involve a range of utilities works, covering water, gas, and electric. Projects have values of £300k – £10 million plus.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Commercial reporting including forecasting and wider project performance
2. Work alongside the operational team to produce accurate End Life Forecasts
3. Manage client interface
4. Risk management including change control and WIP management
5. Contract Administration
6. Provision of contractual advice to the project delivery team
7. Aid in subcontract procurement and placement, ensuring best value for money and lowest risk achieved at all times
8. Payment and debt management
9. Post project appraisals and feedback loop to T & E team
10. Attend internal and external (Client) meetings
11. Final account compilation/submission
Key Competencies:
1. Teamwork
2. Contractual knowledge – NEC3 ECC knowledge is essential

4. Negotiation skills

7. Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
8. Civil Engineering / Utility work experience
9. Excellent IT skills – with a heavy focus on Excel
Qualifications & Experience:
1. HNC or above in Quantity Surveying or equivalent is essential
2. Experience in the construction industry is essential
3. Experience with scheme finance and commercial management is essential
4. Ability to understand and respond to contract issues
5. MRICS or MCIOB is desirable
6. Experience in the utility construction industry with a complete understanding of gas, water, and electric distribution infrastructures is desirable
A salary of up to £75,000 plus an attractive package including pension, volunteer days, fully supported further education, training, and CPD.
