At the present time, your main base will be 10 Willow Road, Castle Donington, Derby DE74 2NP.
The service is based at a central location in Castle Donington, which is the base for all transport teams and will be your main base.
You may be required to work in other designated locations of the Trust as well as your primary base. In particular, flexibility is required across the three main hospital sites (Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital, and Glenfield Hospital). If your initial location is one of these sites, excess travel reimbursement would not apply for a permanent or temporary change of base.

* To provide expert, safe clinical care to premature and sick newborn infants whilst in the care of the Centre Neonatal Transport Service.

Job responsibilities
* Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based neonatal care to neonatal patients and their families according to changing healthcare needs and varying levels of complexity.
* Demonstrate competency in the safe use of all technical equipment.
* To be expert at interpreting any change in the clinical condition of the baby and take appropriate action to liaise with the multi-disciplinary team to respond to changes.
* Recognise, prioritise, and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
* Responsible for the safe transfer of babies outside of the hospital environment.
* Where appropriate, to undertake, with appropriate training, extended clinical skills, such as venepuncture and intravenous cannulation.
* Provide advice, education, support, and information to parents and other family members/carers as required and involve them in the planning and delivery of care relating to the transport setting.
* Establish and maintain effective communication with parents and other family members/carers during the transport episode.
* Communicate with team members, medical and call handling colleagues to receive and provide reports on the progress of transfers throughout each shift.
* Facilitate effective communication and liaison with other disciplines as necessary relating to transfers of sick newborn and premature infants.
* Ensure that fully accurate, complete, and contemporaneous nursing records are written and maintained for each patient in accordance with agreed policy.
* To work together with medical staff, ANNPs, and other healthcare professionals including administrative staff in the delivery of high standards of effective neonatal transport care.
* To work with the transport education team in order to successfully complete the CenTre Transport Service induction and nurse competencies in order to become a fully competent transport nurse.
Person Specification
Training and Qualifications
Essential
* Registered Nurse or Midwife.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
* Recognised post-registration qualification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing or equivalent.
* Recognised teaching and assessing qualification including mentoring or equivalent.
* Current NLS qualification.
* Demonstrates a good understanding of Quality and Safety policies and procedures.
Desirable
* 2nd registerable qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
* Clinical Leadership course.
* Successful completion of a recognised neonatal/paediatric transport course.
* NLS instructor.
Experience
Essential
* Minimum 3 years recent post-registration experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing.
* Minimum 6 months experience post successful completion of neonatal intensive care course qualification.
* Evidence of clinical teaching and assessment of learners and students.
