Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Advanced Senior Pharmacy Support Worker to join our dynamic, forward-thinking Oncology aseptic team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
Your Responsibilities:
* You will be required to work in our brand-new aseptic suite assisting with the preparation of aseptically prepared products and working towards achieving your PIPC (pre and in-process checking) qualification.
* You will support our team of pharmacy technicians to help co-ordinate staff to ensure efficient workflow.
* You will organise and prioritise treatments to prevent patient delays and ensure that all processes are followed as per our standard operating procedures.
* You will be enrolled onto a 24-month training program to develop your aseptic skills, leading to registration with The Science Council as a Science Manufacturing Technician.
Qualifications / training required
* Numerate and literate e.g. GCSE in Maths and English A* to C or equivalent.
* HNC (or equivalent) in a science-based subject OR 2 A Level passes (or equivalent) in a science subject OR equivalent knowledge and experience of aseptic pharmaceutical procedures gained through work experience and training.
* NVQ2 Pharmacy Services or able to commit to completing within 18 months of starting.
* Pre and In-process checking qualification (PIPC) or achievable within 18 months of appointment.
* NHS Improvement Fundamentals 101 - Quality Improvement Theory.
* NHS Improvement Fundamentals 201 - Quality Improvement Tools.
Previous or relevant experience necessary
* Aseptic services experience or laboratory-based procedures experience.
* Ability to follow processes and problem solve.
* Dealing with customers/patients.
* Dispensing of medicines.
* Experience of JAC or similar computer/stock control system.
* Experience of ordering and stock control.
* Checking of medicines (ACPT or PIPC qualification).
Aptitudes and skills required
* Effective communication skills.
* Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Demonstrated ability to problem-solve.
* Ability to follow procedures and recognise own limitations.
* Good team player.
* Participation in team meetings.

Salary: £26,530 to £29,114 a year (Per Annum Pro Rata)
