Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.
Package: £35, 850 - £45,000

AWE is currently recruiting for an Instructional Designer to support training development activity within its Technology Centres (TC) situated at the Burghfield & Aldermaston Site.
This role is ideally suited to a creative individual who enjoys working within a team of training specialists and has demonstrable experience of instructional design. Working within the TC, the successful candidate will be required to work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within an Operations environment to analyse, create, implement, and evaluate training programs that enhance skills and knowledge of employees within the TC.
In addition to supporting the training of the TC, you will contribute to enhancing workforce capabilities. Not only will you support operational efficiency enhancements but also foster a culture of continuous learning improvement among employees.

Who are we looking for?
We do need you to have the following:
1. Instructional design expertise and knowledge & understanding of SAT/ADDIE & Blooms taxonomy.
2. Strong writing & communication skills and able to communicate ideas both visually and verbally.
Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:
1. Ability to create engaging and effective learning content and materials.
2. Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
3. Knowledge of adult learning principles.
4. Background in training or education.
5. Strong interpersonal Skills.
6. Able to manage own workload.
You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a changing environment and be able to manage and prioritise your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, a keen eye for detail, are confident dealing with stakeholders and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Design and develop engaging, impactful, and learner-centric training materials, including instructor-led courses, eLearning modules, and assessments.
2. Collaborate with SMEs to gather information, validate content accuracy, and ensure training materials are aligned with competency objectives and industry best practices.
3. Ability to create storyboards outlining eLearning structure, flow, and interactions.
4. Experienced in designing assessments using different formats, including multiple-choice questions, simulations, performance tasks, surveys etc.
5. Knowledge of various formative & summative assessment types and the ability to analyse assessment data to evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs for continuous improvement.
6. Analyse training needs and target audience to create tailored learning solutions that address specific skill gaps and performance improvement areas.
7. Utilise instructional design principles (SAT, ADDIE, Bloom's Taxonomy, Kirkpatrick etc) to create learning experiences that promote active participation, critical thinking, and knowledge retention.
8. Stay up to date with emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in training and development, incorporating relevant advancements into training programs.
9. Update and develop training logs using Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop innovative training materials, including eLearning modules, instructor-led courses, and assessments.
2. Write clear and concise instructional content and assessments that align with learning objectives and target audience needs.
3. Collaborate with SMEs to gather input and feedback on training materials, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
4. Maintain a repository of training resources, templates, and assets for consistent and efficient content development.
5. Utilise a variety of instructional design methodologies, techniques, and tools to create engaging and interactive learning experiences.
6. Ensure that training content is current, accurate, and aligned with industry best practices and regulations which includes ED&I best practices.
7. Contribute to the overall improvement of the training development process by sharing best practices and innovative ideas.
