An opportunity has arisen for motivated and hard-working qualified social workers to be part of the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s adult mental health services. Two vacancies have become available at the Vale Locality Mental Health Team and the Cardiff and Vale Forensic Community Mental Health services.
The Vale Locality Mental Health Team is an integrated team that provides secondary mental health services to citizens within the Vale of Glamorgan. The Cardiff and Vale Forensic Community Mental Health Services provides mental health services to citizens under part III of the Mental Health Act and with a significant forensic history and presentation.

Pay Details: Grade 8, SCP 26-30 £ 34,834- £38,223 OR Grade 9, SCP 31-35 £39,186- £43,421.

Description:
Within the Vale Locality Mental Health Team, the successful candidate will be working with citizens who experience severe and enduring mental health difficulties and who require services from secondary mental health services under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure in the Vale of Glamorgan. They will work closely with health colleagues in contributing to the provision of a multi-disciplinary community mental health team to assist the citizen in their recovery journey. They will be expected to undertake assessments and formulate and review integrated care and support plans that promote the independence of citizens and their resilience in managing their mental health difficulties and their impact on their life.
Within the Forensic Community services, the successful candidate will, in addition to the above, fulfil the role of social supervisor under part III of the Mental Health Act (i.e. restricted patients). This post requires a highly experience individual that can work autonomously and is competent in risk assessment and management. The successful candidate will be an Approved Mental Health Professional and will be employed as a grade 9 social worker (please see person specifications).
For either of the two posts, if the candidate is qualified as an Approved Mental Health Professional under the Mental Health Act, they will also be expected to assist the Local Authority in discharging its statutory duties under said Act.
About you
You will need:
Experience of working with adults who are vulnerable through illness, disability or age-related frailty.
Assessment of Adult Service users and carers
Working in partnership with statutory/voluntary organisations to promote the independence of service users.
For Grade 8
Newly qualified Social Workers, less than 2 years post qualified / practising experience
Prepared to undertake studies to meet the registration requirements within the Care Council for Wales CPEL framework.
For Grade 9
Social workers within excess of 3 years practising work experience.
Routinely manage complex cases
Competent in producing reports that are rooted in rigorous practice methodology and, where required, legislation.
Provide supervision, coaching and mentoring.
Practice Assessor
Approved Mental Health Professional.
