Tournament Business - Senior Manager
Based at Virginia Water, Surrey.
3-4 days a week in the office
The European Tour group is one of the world’s pre-eminent golf organisations. We are responsible for running the world-famous DP World Tour, Legends Tour, Challenge Tour and G4D Tour (golf for the disabled). We also organise, alongside the PGA of America, golf’s greatest team contest - the Ryder Cup.
The Role:
The European Tour group’s Tournament Business Team is pivotal in enhancing our events and financial outcomes through strategic relationship management and growth initiatives. As part of our internal 'tournament consulting' team, you will oversee a portfolio of third-party promoter events, collaborating with promoters to analyse and develop comprehensive business plans that align with our long-term financial goals and objectives.
You will act as the primary point of contact for these events, ensuring alignment across various internal departments and maintaining strategic documents. Your role will involve close collaboration with the Commercial Partnerships team and our Tournament Revenue lead to maximize revenue opportunities. Additionally, you will share knowledge within the team to implement best practices across all events.
Reporting to the Director of Tournament Business at the DP World Tour, you will work closely with key stakeholders, including the DP World Tour Strategy, Commercial, Partnership Management, Financial, and Legal Teams, as well as the Tournament Business team at PGA TOUR Headquarters. This role is based at the DP World Tour’s Wentworth Head Office.
Your expertise will be crucial in developing strategic support plans, managing key event relationships, tracking success drivers, and refining business processes. You will also consult with tournament commercial teams on product development and sales planning to maximize local revenue whilst working with all internal stakeholders and taking on special projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and 4-6 years in sports marketing, business development, financial management, or event management. Knowledge of the sport business, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work well in a team are essential.
You should be detail-oriented, highly organized, and confident, with experience working with international teams. Willingness to travel extensively and fluency in English are required, with proficiency in a second language being a bonus.
The European Tour group promotes diversity, equality, and inclusion. We ensure that we make employment decisions by matching our business needs with the skills and experience of candidates, regardless of anything.
