Consortium Professional Recruitment is pleased to partner with a leading firm in their search for an experienced Technical Manager. This Hull-based role involves managing a team responsible for developing and improving product designs using SolidWorks. The successful candidate will not only lead the team but also contribute hands-on to the day-to-day design tasks, ensuring all projects align with strategic business goals and meet quality standards.
Technical Manager Role & Responsibilities:
* Lead the design team in the creation and development of new products and components using SolidWorks.
* Ensure all designs meet functional, aesthetic, and performance specifications while adhering to industry standards.
* Participate in daily design tasks, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support to the team.
* Oversee the engineering and continuous improvement (CI) team, turning innovative ideas into manufacturable designs.
* Collaborate with external customers to ensure design requirements are captured and incorporated into product development.
* Supervise the structured product development process from concept through to production readiness.
* Manage resources efficiently to meet project deadlines and budget constraints.
* Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Candidate Requirements:
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a closely related field.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within design, ideally in a manufacturing setting.
* Strong expertise in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, creating assemblies, and technical drawings.
* Proven ability to manage and lead a team, effectively prioritizing tasks and allocating resources to meet objectives.
* Hands-on experience with product lifecycle management and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Excellent communication skills and a practical, problem-solving mindset, with the ability to work across departments and guide technical projects.
Salary & Benefits:
Salary between £40,000 and £45,000 per annum.
